Street Fighter 5 Beta's Stress Test Coming to North America This Week-April 2024
Apr 21, 2025 5:15 PM

Following similar tests in both Europe and Asia, Capcom has announced the dates for Street Fighter V beta stress tests in North and South America.

The tests are scheduled to take place in both regions on August 25 and 26 from 4 PM-12 AM PDT. Assuming things go properly--the European and Asian stress tests were deemed "successful" in a blog post--Capcom will announce a schedule for the return of the first Street Fighter V beta.

This PS4-only beta originally began in July, but ended up being taken down due to severe technical issues. Capcom delayed it indefinitely and said it would bring the beta back for a full five days, as was originally planned, once it had resolved the issues. A stress test recently began that some players were able to get into, but the beta has yet to officially return.

"Please note that although we anticipate these tests to run smoother than before, there may still be issues experienced by some users," Capcom warned those planning on taking part in this week's stress test. "All data received during each of the stress tests will help us improve the online experience moving forward, and we appreciate your understanding and support."

Capcom also offered a pair of tips for achieving a smoother experience, although they're likely things you're already aware of it. It recommends using a wired connection, rather than Wi-Fi, and ensuring you're not downloading anything in the background.

Both the stress test and the returning beta will be for PS4 only. Previous plans were for this to be followed by another beta later this year for PS4 and PC, with a third beta coming after that.

Street Fighter V producer Yoshinori Ono teased an announcement today related to the game coming at PAX Prime this weekend. Whether that's related to the beta is unclear, as Ono wouldn't share any details about what it entails.
