In a week of cover athlete announcements, Amare Stoudemire can be added to the list, as the Suns' big man has just made the front page of 989 Sports' upcoming plot-driven hoops game, NBA 06. I would have pegged a point guard to make the NBA 06 cover, however, if only because the game's centerpiece mode--NBA Life Vol. 1--forces your created player into the PG position as you look to make a name for yourself throughout your rookie season. I'm still not certain this is a wise design choice, especially for those who like throwing their weight around with the big men down low, but we'll see how it works out once the game is released.
What is a wise decicion, however, is the fact that 989 is releasing a PSP version of NBA 06. I can't help but wonder if the linear storyline of NBA Life Vol. 1 will make it to the handheld version of the game. Perhaps we'll know more next week at E3...
So, that's two down, with one big NBA sim left to go: NBA 2K6, assuming it's announced in the next few weeks. Anybody want to take a guess as who will get the nod? My guess: that highly skilled Canadian hippy goof Steve Nash.
