Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures hits 10M users-April 2024

Electronic Arts has a new Star Wars massively multiplayer online role-playing game on the market, Star Wars: The Old Republic, but that isn't keeping Sony Online Entertainment's Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures from reaching a new user milestone. It appears a party is in order.

Sony announced today that the free-to-play MMORPG has more than 10 million registered players. The game launched in 2010 for the PC and is based on the Cartoon Network show Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

Looking ahead, Sony said gamers can expect to encounter the nefarious and once-bisected Sith Lord Darth Maul in a new content update due March 15. Players will be able to interact with the horned bad guy in "three different ways" to earn a new player title and amass other rewards.

The arrival of Darth Maul in Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures coincides with the Sith's return in season four of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which premiered last September.

As for EA's Star Wars MMOG, The Old Republic shipped in December 2011 and sold 2 million units by the publisher's latest count. The game boasts 1.7 million subscribers, who each pay $15 per month to continue playing.
