Select Square Enix games have now made their way back to Nvidia's cloud gaming service GeForce Now, including entries in the Tomb Raider and Deus Ex series. However, some games that were previously available for the platform have not yet returned, including Final Fantasy XV, Nier: Automata, and the Arkham series.

　　Square Enix was one of several publishers to pull its games from the service earlier this year when it became apparent that players could access their Steam purchases through Nvidia's cloud server without the permission of the rights holders. Nvidia has now implemented an opt-in program where publishers like Square Enix must give their explicit permission for their games to stay on the service. The deadline to opt into the program was May 31.

　　Activision Blizzard and Bethesda were among the largest publishers to pull their games from the service, along with notable indies like The Long Dark. Unlike Google Stadia, which requires players to separately purchase each game on the service, GeForce Now pulls games from the user's library on other storefronts, primarily Steam. These two services represent diametrically-opposed approaches to the future of cloud gaming, and it's unclear if one will eventually win out.
