Spider-Man: Miles Morales Is A PS5 Launch Game, First Gameplay Debuts-April 2024
Apr 20, 2025 5:19 AM

During the September 2020 PlayStation 5 Showcase, Insomniac debuted a gameplay trailer for Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales. The studio also announced that the game will be coming to PS4 as well as PS5, so fans who aren't ready to upgrade can still experience Miles' new adventure. It's releasing on November 12 in the US, right alongside the newly-announced date for the PS5. Other territories will get Miles Morales on November 19.

The demo opened with Miles walking down the wintery streets of Harlem with a friend, and we learn that his mother is in the running to be mayor. The trailer then transitions to a battle on a New York City bridge. A subsequent battle scene shows Miles using his acrobatic moves along with his unique shock powers. A cinematic then showed the bridge starting to collapse, so of course, Miles sprung into action to rescue trapped civilians. You can watch the full gameplay first-look in the video below.

Now Playing: Spider-Man: Miles Morales Gameplay First Look | PS5 Showcase

As seen in the trailer, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales sees the titular Miles donning his signature black and red Spider-Man suit for the first time. With Peter Parker noticeably absent, Miles has to pick up the slack as New York's resident webhead. Although he lacks the years of experience that Peter has, Miles possesses many of the same web shooter gadgets and combat abilities. He does seem a bit greener when it comes to web-slinging, though.

As he was bitten by a different species of spider, Miles also utilizes brand-new spider powers that Peter doesn't have access to, such as venom stingers and camouflage. Creative director Brain Horton said that, although Miles Morales will be a shorter overall experience in comparison to 2018's Marvel's Spider-Man, this game will be a complete coming-of-age story for Miles that fully covers his origin story.

Horton also revealed during the presentation that the Tinkerer is a major threat in this game, along with a high-tech criminal army. The character has previously appeared in Spider-Man: Homecoming as a minor villain, and first appeared in the comics in 1963.

According to an accompanying post on the PlayStation Blog, Miles Morales will cost $50, but you can get a deluxe edition that includes a digital code for the remastered PS5 version of Marvel's Spider-Man for $70.

Like several PS4 games before it, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales will allow you to switch between multiple modes to alter the gameplay experience. When played in Performance Mode, the game will go up to 4K at 60 frames per second.
