Resident Evil: Afterlife film shoot starts
Resident Evil: Afterlife film shoot starts-April 2024
Apr 20, 2025 12:40 PM

The first live-action film based on Resident Evil was released in 2002, starring model-turned-actress Milla Jovovich and directed by Paul W. S. Anderson (Mortal Kombat, Alien vs. Predator). Seven years later, the fourth film based on the survival horror series has begun production...with Jovovich starring and her now-husband Anderson writing, producing, and directing.

As revealed at this year's Comic-Con, Resident Evil: Afterlife will be shot in 3D and is slated for a September 2010 release. It will be the first of a three-film arc, which would bring the total number of live-action movies based on the game to six, including Resident Evil: Apocalypse (2004) and Resident Evil: Extinction (2007)--both of which also starred Jovovich.

According to Screendaily.com, Jovovich will be joined in Afterlife by Extinction costars Ali Larter (Heroes) and Spencer Locke (Spanglish). Joining the cast will be Wentworth Miller, star of the increasingly improbable (and now concluded) television series Prison Break. He will play the role of Chris Redfield, an ex-pilot and recurring series character who was the protagonist of Resident Evil 5. Also on board are Shawn Roberts (Supernatural), who will assume the role of antagonist Wesker, and supporting players Boris Kodjoe (TV's Soul Food) and Kim Coates (Sons of Anarchy).
