Westwood Studios has posted a downloadable demo of Recoil, a 3D tank shooter that Electronic Arts picked up from Virgin Interactive and expects to release in early 1999. In the game, players control a "battle-force tank" that can be armed with up to 18 weapons, up to and including tether-guided nuclear devices.
The full version of the game will feature indoor outdoor arenas where players can participate in single player battles or multi-player contests with up to 32 participants. The game can be played in both first- and third-person mode.
The demo features one complete level and allows players use of six weapons including the Rapid Fire Pulse Gun, the High Explosive Mortar Cannon, and the Lock-on Missile Launcher.
