Gamers everywhere have been waiting for an official release date for Quake II. Speculation on the Web has said that the date of release would be on Dec. 8.
Earlier this week, id Software announced that the final Quake II code was complete and that Activision, the game's publisher, would announce an official on-shelf date later this week.
Well, Todd Hollenshead, CEO of id Software, announced the release date in his plan file Tuesday night: "I just spoke with Activision and the current projection is that Quake II will be at a retailer near you (if you live in the US or Canada) by Tuesday the 9th. I'm still waiting on release dates outside of North America but those should be forthcoming."
Considering all the buzz surrounding the title's release, you'll want to head to your local software store and reserve a copy now - this is going to be one of the biggest games of the season.
