Pokemon and Nobunaga's Ambition will arrive in North America as Pokemon Conquest on June 18, Nintendo announced today. Due out for the Nintendo DS, the turn-based 2D game shipped in Japan in early March to 172,027 first-week sales. Gamers can try out Tecmo's take on Pokemon this summer.
Unlike the main Pokemon games, which were developed by Game Freak, Pokemon Conquest was created by Tecmo Koei. The game is set in Ransei, which mimics feudal Japan and also contains cartoon versions of historical figures like Oda Nobunaga and Uesugi Kenshin.
Gamers take on the role of a young Warlord linked with a Pokemon. Combat is handled in an isometric view and is turn-based, much like strategy role-playing games such as the Disgaea series and Final Fantasy Tactics.
Pokemon Conquest will mark the second new Pokemon game to arrive for the DS in 2012. It follows Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2, which are slated to hit the portable this fall.
