Paradox Entertainment has acquired the worldwide rights to develop and publish new PC games in the Diplomacy and Squad Leader series. Atari previously held the rights to the games, which are based on classic tabletop games from Avalon Hill.
Each series has seen one release on the PC. Diplomacy, released in 1999, was a grand strategy game in the vein of risk, and 2000's Squad Leader was a turn-based strategy game set during World War II.
While Paradox said it would develop the new PC games internally, the company has not yet made any specific announcements concerning the two series.
