On Friday, June 6, one of the dozens of registered Ultima Online guilds played a prank: it altered the appearance of part of the official Ultima Online home page.
Today Origin spokesperson Teresa Potts reported that the situation was resolved. Potts explained that "we weren't really hacked into," and that the suspected security breach was the act of an individual who "got really creative with the Guild registration." The webmasters at Origin have tightened security on guild registration so something of this nature will not happen again.
Meanwhile, Potts says Ultima Online is progressing according to plan, with the beta test discs set to ship soon. The beta test will begin in time for the upcoming E3 show and will extend into the next several weeks.
