Today, Nintendo announced its most successful product has hit a major milestone. According to Reuters, the Japanese game giant has now sold more than 20 million Game Boy Advance and Game Boy Advance SP handheld game systems in the United States. The original GBA was released in June 2001, with the $99 GBA SP debuting last March. The GBA SP currently retails for $99, while the original GBA sells for around $69.
Nintendo claims the GBAs' performance is the best of any of its handhelds. The original Game Boy and the Game Boy Color sold only 2.4 million and 14.3 million respective units in their first two-and-a-half years on the market.
