Proving that it's never too early to start talking about college football, EA Sports has sent out a press release this morning announcing that NCAA Football 09 would be available for the first time in the Nintendo Wii. From the release:

　　"To commemorate the first NCAA Football video game on WiiTM, the video game's packaging will feature a platform exclusive NCAA college team mascot. Fans will be able to choose their favorite NCAA FBS (formally known as Division 1-A) college team mascot, and will ultimately decide which college mascot will represent this year's NCAA Football 09 Wii cover."

　　Fans can go to the official home page for NCAA Football 09 and begin casting one vote per day for their favorite college mascot, with the winner being announced on March 14.

　　Now, I'm curious to see how NCAA 09's gameplay will compare to the Madden series on the Wii but, for now, all I can think of is the mascot contest. I mean, as much as I'd love to see my Auburn Tigers' mascot, Aubie, land on the cover of NCAA 09, there's a deep dark part of me that wants to start up a campaign on behalf of a program like the Campbell Fighting Camels. Epecially because I'm not 100 percent certain they even have a football team.
