The free-running will probably look familiar to Mirror's Edge fans, but, as explained on the Catalyst website, Faith also has some new moves this time around. One of these is called "Shift"; it provides a short burst of acceleration in any direction. Additionally, a move called Quickturn lets her make a 90 or 180 degree turn rapidly.
Faith will also have some items available to her, including a mag rope, which can latch on to specific surfaces in the world, "allowing for unique traversal and interaction opportunities." The other is called a Disruptor; as its name suggests, this lets you disrupt, or even destroy, AI systems in the world.

The second video showcases Catalyst's combat. Faith has light and heavy punches in her arsenal, while she can also build up a Focus pool that lets her deal "Swift" attacks without losing momentum. EA explains that when Faith has reached a Focus state, enemies can't touch her. When she loses Focus, however, enemies do more damage. When Faith fill her Focus meter fully, she will enter "Flow" status, described as a "state of awareness that allows you to attack in new and more powerful ways."
Originally set to launch on February 23, Catalyst was later delayed to May 24. Producer Sara Jansson explained the game was delayed to "make sure that when you step into the massive City of Glass and experience the rise of Faith, it's as entertaining, impressive, and memorable as it can be."
Catalyst's closed beta will be available before launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and on PC. You can sign up for a chance to get into the closed beta through this website, although access is not guaranteed.
The first Mirror's Edge was released in 2008 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Like that game, Swedish studio DICE (Battlefield, Star Wars Battlefront) is also working on the sequel.
