Two new quarter munchers are headed your way soon. Here's our hands-on report.
War is the first first-person shooter designed specifically for the arcade. Because of this approach, the colors are radically different from what we've been used to on games like Quake which are fairly dark and ... brown. War is colorful and that ain't a bad thing. The frame rate is smooth and the gameplay is fast - especially in the four-player Deathmatch. Look for War in arcades soon.
The one to watch though is NBA Showtime: The NBA on NBC. This is from the creators of Blitz and is pure arcade three-on-three basketball. The level of detail is so unbelievable you will just freak. The polygon count in a player's head probably rivals whole bodies from other games. Of course there will be secret players and moves like Big Heads. The release may be affected by the lockout, but either way, it will be released around the 2nd Quarter of ‘99.
