Microsoft has announced that it plans to sell 1.5 million units of the Xbox in the three months following the console's March 14 launch in Europe. The company's projections for European sales are generally in line with its forecasts for the North American market. In that territory, the company hopes to sell 1 to 1.5 million units of the Xbox by the end of the year.
"We are capable of building 1.5 million units for the launch and we'd be very, very happy to sell all of those,'' Sandy Duncan, vice president for Microsoft's European Xbox division, told Reuters at Flextronic's opening of the European Xbox plant in Hungary. The plant in Europe joins the facility in Guadalajara, Mexico, which has been the primary supplier of Xbox units in North America.
