Since 2008's Hulk came out--which starred Edward Norton as Bruce Banner--the MCU has been without a solo Hulk movie. Mark Ruffalo took over the character in 2012, most recently appearing in Avnegers: Endgame. Now he's discussing the future of Hulk.
One thing that's important about solo films is seeing what these MCU characters' lives are like on a daily basis. And Hulk isn't a character that gets enough screentime to explore that. Obviously, Ruffalo would love his own standalone Hulk movie, and so would fans. "There's an idea that I think could be really interesting," Ruffalo told Variety. "We've never really followed him into his life. He's always kind of off on the side. He's like the Rosencrantz and Guildenstern of the Avengers. It'd be interesting to fill in all the blanks about what happened to him in between all these movies."

Now Playing: Disney Plus: 9 Great '80s Movies To Watch
Hulk/Banner's amalgamation/transformation to Smart Hulk was done completely off-screen between Infinity War and Endgame. While it may not make for the most-interesting feature-length movie--considering what was going on with the rest of the MCU during that time--making that into a character study without a real villain could be really interesting.
On another note, Ruffalo also discussed potentially appearing in the upcoming Disney+ series She-Hulk. "There's some talk of having Banner/Hulk show up in She–Hulk. If we come up with something good, that would be really interesting. Right now that's about it. That's all there is on the table."
Considering that in the comics Jennifer Walters (She-Hulk) is Bruce Banner's cousin, Ruffalo's inclusion in the upcoming Disney+ would make sense, as long as that canon is transferred over to the MCU. In the comics, She-Hulk got a blood transfusion using Banner's blood, and became a Hulked-out version of herself. However, unlike Hulk, she keeps her personality when she's transformed. She-Hulk does fight crime by punching bad guys into submission, but her day job is an attorney, so she also helps put them away in prison.
At this time, there has been no release date announced for She-Hulk and no casting info or plot details for the upcoming series.
