Gateway 2000, a company with a loyal base of computer gamers, announced Monday that its president and COO, Richard Snyder, has resigned to head up a venture capital fund in Michigan. Snyder will continue to serve on the company's board of directors, and a successor has not yet been chosen.
Gateway is performing strongly, with unit sales having been increased by 31 percent in the second quarter over the same quarter last year. In a recent marketing study conducted by The Strategic Group, more gamers owned Gateway 2000 desktop PCs than other brands.
Gateway stock was down 2 1/8 from 37 3/4 in Tuesday morning's trading.
