Spark Unlimited's last first-person shooter, Turning Point: Fall of Liberty, stood out in the crowded genre for its alternate-history setting of a Nazi-occupied America of 1952. While the critical reception to the game was less than glowing, the developer will soon discover if its next attempt at a concept-driven first-person shooter fares any better with reviewers.

　　Publisher Gamecock has announced that it will begin shipping Spark's Legendary for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 to stores on September 30. The first-person shooter sees mythological monsters unleashed in modern-day settings after the player unknowingly opens Pandora's Box. Among the beasties suddenly in need of extermination will be minotaurs, werewolves, and griffins.

　　Gamers who preorder the title at participating retailers will also get an art book and DVD featuring trailers, behind-the-scenes videos, and more. If that's not enough Legendary, Spark has also commissioned a 96-page graphic novel for the project. Set to go on sale around the time of the game's release, the comic adaptation will be penned by Marc Waid, writer of DC's Kingdom Come.

　　[UPDATE]: A representeative with Gamecock updated the game's PC release date to November 4. He also emphasized that Legendary has been in development at Spark for more than three years and was created by a separate team than the one that handled Turning Point.
