Over 30 years after the original film, a sequel to Labyrinth is on the way. The 1986 movie starred David Bowie, Jennifer Connelly, and a host of puppet creatures created by Jim Henson, who directed the film. It followed a young girl (Connelly) whose brother was taken by goblins, sending her on a journey to get him back by venturing through a massive maze.
According to a report from Deadline, the sequel movie will be directed by Scott Derrickson, who most notably helmed 2016's Doctor Strange. The director confirmed the news himself on Twitter.

Derrickson was set to return as director for the second film in that franchise, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, it was announced back in February that he had left the project over creative differences.
Maggie Levin, who most recently wrote and directed the Hulu movie Into the Dark: My Valentine, will be tackling the script. Meanwhile, Henson's children are also involved. Lisa Henson will serve as a producer, while Brian Henson is an executive producer on the project.
It was first reported back in 2016 that a new Labyrinth movie was in development. At the time, Guardians of the Galaxy co-writer Nicole Perlman was working on a script. She revealed then that the movie in the works was not a reboot and that the process started in 2014, before Bowie's untimely death. "No one is remaking Labyrinth," she wrote. "That movie is perfect as it is."
No casting, story, or release details are known at this point.
