Rockstar Games has drawn plenty of inspiration from films for blockbuster hits like Grand Theft Auto IV and Red Dead Redemption, but the company is taking it a step further with its latest game, L.A. Noire. The publisher today announced that its cinematically inclined crime thriller will rub elbows with actual cinema as an Official Selection of the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival.

　　A little club soda will get that right out. In an hour-long event on April 25, Rockstar representatives will introduce audiences to the first game ever featured in the film festival, with a live walkthrough of one of the game's cases, followed by a question and answer session. It's not clear who will be on hand for Rockstar and developer Team Bondi, but the session will be moderated by Tribeca Enterprises chief creative officer Geoff Gilmore.

　　L.A. Noire is in development at Australian studio Team Bondi and follows Detective Phelps as he becomes entangled in a violent web of vice, corruption, and crime in 1940s Los Angeles. Players jump into the seedy underworld of the metropolis and are tasked with solving a series of murders in what Rockstar describes as an "open-ended challenge." The game is set for a May 17 debut in North America, with a European launch on May 20.
