The new Kids in the Hall season for Amazon Prime has officially begun production, according to a tweet by cast member, Kevin McDonald. It was originally slated for last year, but because of the global pandemic, production had halted for more than a year.
Amazon had reported that not only are the five original kids Dave Foley, Kevin McDonald, Bruce McCulloch, Mark McKinney, and Scott Thompson will be back, but so will fan-favorite characters in, the new series, which will be a "continuation of the original show." It's unknown what original characters will make their return with this new series, but 21st century Bird Lady is something that we could all use.

Kids in the Hall were almost like sketch comedy counter-culture compared to the mainstream audience of SNL, and more commonly seen as an influence for MTV's The State and eventually Comedy Central's UCB, which spawned a slew of careers. McKinney actually joined the cast of SNL for a few years starting in the middle of Season 20. He even starred in some of the SNL spin-off movies such as A Night At The Roxbury and Superstar.
The original Kids in the Hall show aired on CBC and HBO for six seasons from 1989 to 1995, but gained immense popularity once it hit Comedy Central in syndication. In 1996, the group landed their own movie, simply called Kids in the Hall: Brain Candy, which featured an original story that was written by the cast, and became a cult classic.
There is still no premiere date set for this new season.
