Kaplan Aspyrs to SAT study game
Kaplan Aspyrs to SAT study game-April 2024
Apr 20, 2025 4:56 PM

Games are often railed against as the antithesis of academia, interfering with class attendance and study habits. However, the post-braining training craze has for many turned that theory on its ear, with one of the most striking examples being SAT study-aid provider Kaplan partnering with Blizzard Entertainment and Tokyo Pop on the grandiloquent Warcraft: Dragon Hunt, which boasts more than 300 words of questionable worth that commonly appear on the loathed exam.

Now, Kaplan has plans to extend its reach into the gaming sector by partnering with Aspyr Media on developing and distributing learning software. The multiyear deal will bear its fruit later this year with an SAT prep game in development at Aspyr Studios for the Nintendo DS, PC, and Mac.

Details on the game are slim, but Kaplan and Aspyr promise an experience that is "engaging, visually dynamic, and unconventional...that is rooted solidly in Kaplan's SAT prep curriculum." The publisher expects to reveal more information about the title later this year.

Aspyr notes that the unnamed project will be its first attempt at developing and publishing an original product. Previously, the company has handled one-off publishing duties for a variety of high-profile titles, including Activision's Guitar Hero III for the PC and Gas Powered Games' Supreme Commander for the Xbox 360.
