Interstate Down the Road to 1982
Interstate Down the Road to 1982-April 2024
Apr 19, 2025 10:53 AM

Activision moves into the 80's with the next game in the series of Interstate titles, Interstate '82.

Built on a new 3D hardware-only engine, Interstate '82 put gamers back in the driver's seat in a road rage across America. The idea is to solve a plot that concerns the oval office, Central American revolutionaries, and would-be presidential assassins. Players confront the conspiracy in cars, on foot, in helicopters, or on motorcycles through mines, sewer tunnels, a shopping mall and Las Vegas.

Gamers will get more then 30 missions and 20 unique levels to drive through and then race their heavily armored vehicles to a secret military base known as Area 49.

New features in the game engine include deeper gameplay, better AI and more complex levels. One new addition is that during combat, players can exit their vehicles, run across the battle field and hop into a new vehicle - just don't get shot.

Although gamers without 3D accelerators won't be able to see the following, those with accelerators will gain better frame rates and better visual effects that include fog, rain, unique lighting and snow. Multiplayer gameplay will feature dynamic joining, new gameplay modes and cooperative team play.

The Windows 95/98 is expected to ship this winter.
