The French parent of Atari, Inc., Infogrames, today reported revenues for the first half of its current fiscal year. For the half-year ending September 30, the struggling publisher said revenues were off 14 percent.

　　Unaudited results show second-half sales dipping to 105.5 million euros (US$135.3 million) compared with 123 million euros ($157.6 million) for the same period a year ago.

　　The bottom line for Infogrames wasn't any prettier--the company posted a loss of 33.4 million euros ($42.8 million), which compares to the 45.4 million euro ($58.2 million) loss for the same period a year ago.

　　Audited results for the six-month period will be announced on November 29, 2006.

　　Reuters is reporting that Infogrames Entertainment's chief executive officer, Bruno Bonnell, is digging in his heels, vowing to tough out his company's bleak economic times. "A captain does not abandon the ship in the midst of a storm," Bonnell reportedly told French daily Les Echos.

　　Bonnell founded Infogrames in 1983 and has held executive roles since its founding.

　　In a statement, the company said the half-year figures do not include revenue from discontinued operations Paradigm, Shiny Entertainment, nor its Reflections studios, all of which were sold in the past six months.

　　Atari, Inc., the Infogrames subsidiary in the US, reported its earnings last week, announcing a profit for the July-September 2006 quarter. At just $311,000, the profit wasn't impressive in and of itself, but it was the company's first profitable quarter in years.

　　Looking ahead, the company singled out Arthur and the Minimoys (multiple platforms), Neverwinter Nights 2 for the PC, and Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 for the PC and Wii as games it hopes will deliver solid holiday sales.
