Hitman developer IO Interactive has said the studio intends to deliver new content to players regularly via digital channels, but will culminate in a disc release for the game.

Speaking in an interview with GameSpot, IO Interactive creative director Christian Elverdam said thinking of the new Hitman as a platform "is a good image" to use for its release strategy.

"All the content we are going to provide is going to make Hitman a substantial game. It's going to be bigger than Hitman: Absolution in terms of content."

Elverdam clarified that his comparison to Absolution in terms of the amount of content the new Hitman will provide is not apt for when the game launches. However, by the time the studio is done with the game, it will be significantly bigger than Absolution.

"What we're also saying is that there will be a disc at the very end, so if you feel that's what you want, that's what you can have. Either way, you'll be paying $60. There will be no other prices, nothing else going on there.

"For some players it will be highly appealing to be apart of the live, expanding world, for others they may want to wait. You're going to miss out on some of that [contracts] stuff, but I still think it's a good bargain anyways."

Hitman is set to release late this year across PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
