It's been long-rumored that Superman actor Henry Cavill was allegedly hanging up the cape. However, Cavill has definitively commented on the speculation, saying that he is not done with the Man of Steel role yet.
In a lengthy profile by Men's Health, Cavill made it clear that the superhero character is a role he guards fiercely. "The cape is in the closet," Cavill said. "It's still mine."

Now Playing: Why We're Excited For Netflix's The Witcher | SDCC 2019
While Cavill is donning Geralt of Rivia's leather in Netflix's The Witcher TV series this December, the actor has intentions of returning to Superman because of the amount of storytelling left to explore.
"I'm not just going to sit quietly in the dark as all this stuff is going on," Cavill said. "I've not given up the role. There's a lot I have to give for Superman. A lot of storytelling to do. A lot of real, true depths to the honesty of the character I want to get into. I want to reflect the comic books. That's important to me. There's a lot of justice to be done for Superman. The status is: You'll see."
When Cavill slips into the cape again remains to be seen as the actor is currently slated for a second season of The Witcher, a universe he admires fondly. "I like that realm," he said of The Witcher. "These characters matter a lot to people, and they matter a lot to me." And of course, Warner Bros. owns the rights to Superman, so whether Cavill will play the Man of Steel is up to WB.
Alongside Cavill as Geralt, the show stars Anya Chalotra as Yennefer and Freya Allan as Ciri and hits Netflix on December 20.
