GURPS Meets Myth
GURPS Meets Myth-April 2024
Apr 22, 2025 4:32 AM

Steve Jackson Games announced Wednesday that the Myth universe created by Bungie Software for its two hit 3D strategy games, will be the focus of a new GURPS sourcebook for tabletop gaming.

GURPS, or the Generic Universal Role-Playing System, is the workhorse of Steve Jackson Games, a long-time games publisher based in Austin, Texas, that over the decades has produced such titles as Ogre, Car Wars, and Illuminati, among others. GURPS lets RPG players play in distinctly different universes, from secret agents to superheroes to medieval knights, without major modifications to the general game system.

The new sourcebook, due in November, will detail the Myth world, including the struggle between the Dwarves and the Ghols, the origin of the Great Devoid, and more. Players will then be able to role-play in the Myth world in greater detail then ever.

"It's great to work with Steve Jackson, and to open up the Myth world to a whole new class of gamers," said Alexander Seropian, Bungie CEO.

Computer RPG fans may remember that Steve Jackson Games was originally working with Interplay to produce GURPS Fallout, a distinctly opposite situation of converting an RPG work to the computer world. After a series of disagreements, Jackson pulled away from the project. Hence just plain "Fallout" was born.
