Add the intro for True Detective's first season to the long list of things that have now been recreated using Grand Theft Auto V.
The video below, shared on YouTube by user llachlann, is a pretty spot-on reenactment of the crime show's excellent intro sequence (see the original here). It's obviously limited in some ways, with the game not including certain things seen in the intro. But, as always, part of the fun with these videos is seeing exactly how those problems are dealt with and which things are done perfectly (Travis at 52 seconds being one such example).
This was created using the PC version of GTA V, with After Effects used for compositing. Specifically, everything was recorded in-game save for the film burns, film grain, fire effects, and the clouds at the 28-second mark.
There's no word on whether True Detective season two's (let's be honest, inferior) intro will get this treatment next. In the meantime, check out some other GTA V recreations and videos through the links below.
