Grand Theft Auto V's multiplayer mode, Grand Theft Auto Online, will introduce Heists in early 2015 across all platforms, Rockstar Games announced today. The developer has also released a new trailer for the long-awaited mode, which you can watch above.
"[Heists] will require tight communication and coordination, with players taking on specified roles at each point to accomplish multiple objectives on the way to each Heist's epic finale," Rockstar says. "Featuring new gameplay, new vehicles, new weapons, new clothing, and much more."
Rockstar Games originally planned to release Heists for GTA Online earlier this year, but the feature was delayed due to the content "taking more time to create" than anticipated.
The trailer above shows that Heists in GTA Online will work in much the same way they do in the main game. You'll assemble a crew, choose how to approach a Heist, and then execute the mission. In the GTA V story mode, your cut of the Heist earnings were divided between crew members. Presumably, it will work the same way in GTA Online.
GTA Online Heists will be available in early 2015 for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC.
GTA V was originally released in September 2013 for last-generation consoles, shipping 34 million copies. The game launched for current-generation machines last month, and sales are going strong, as GTA V was the second best-selling game of November 2014 in the US.
The PC edition of GTA V launches in late January.
