GT Interactive announced Wednesday that it is launching a US$10 million global ad campaign to promote the release of Abe's Oddysee. It is GT's most expensive marketing program to date, and will feature advertising over all media, including TV, print, retail and via Internet promotions. Abe's Oddysee is scheduled for release on September 19 for PC and PlayStation, and is the first game in a "quintology" of games being developed by Oddworld Inhabitants.
Beginning September 11 and running through the holiday season, 30-second animated spots will appear on network, cable, and syndicated programming. Spots will be shown on The X-Files, MTV, and Deep Space 9. Retail stores will have point-of-purchase displays, and Toys "R" Us will be placing the game in its PlayStation kiosks.
