Jim Ryan, president of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, and Kazunori Yamauchi, president of Polyphony Digital, announced Gran Turismo Sport for PlayStation 4 during Sony's Paris Games Week press conference.
During the announcement, Yamauchi detailed two year-long championships that players will be able to participate in, which culminate in a ceremony where winners will celebrate alongside real-world racing champions.
Yamauchi also announced that Gran Turismo Sport is being developed to support PlayStation VR, Sony's upcoming virtual reality headset for PlayStation 4.
A beta version of Gran Turismo Sport will launch in early 2016.
