Goat Simulator Takes on Russian President Putin in Latest Patch
Goat Simulator Takes on Russian President Putin in Latest Patch-April 2024
Apr 21, 2025 12:00 AM

In its most recent update to its humorous PC game Goat Simulator, Coffee Stain Studios takes a political stance against Russian president Vladimir Putin. The developer criticizes Putin's policies toward the gay and lesbian community by adorning an in-game hotel with Pride flags.

First reported by Polygon, this area appears in the new map added with Patch 1.1 and is called "Putin in Hotel."

Coffee Stain's Armin Ibrisagic remarks in a statement to Polygon that "We really wanted to piss Putin off, and if he ever plays the game, I hope he'll see it."

He continues more seriously, saying that "We also wanted to make good use of the fact that we have hundreds of thousands of people playing our game that might usually not be interested in this kind of stuff, and reach them in a way they never expected."

Coffee Stain Studios has never attempted to hide its intentions with Goat Simulator. Its creators commonly refer to Goat Simulator as "The World's Dumbest Game," and they claim that it is intentionally broken and full of bugs.

Patch 1.1 was released today and includes a variety of other improvements and additions, such as split-screen multiplayer and the ability to ride bicycles and skateboards. You can read more about the update here.
