GameStop has announced a new Destiny trade-in offer that appears to be aimed at people who played the base game, but not the expansions, and want to jump back in with The Taken King and Destiny 2.0.
The retailer will give you a $20 credit (via NeoGAF) when you trade in your copy of Destiny and apply it toward the purchase of The Taken King -- Legendary Edition. This bundle, which includes the base game, as well as The Dark Below, House of Wolves, and The Taken King, normally sells for $60.
Using the credit, you can get it for $40, which is what Activision is charging for The Taken King alone. Given that The Dark Below and House of Wolves sell for $20 each (or $35 together), The Legendary Edition is already the most economical way for a total Destiny newcomer to get started.
This trade-in offer runs September 12-21.
The Taken King and the Legendary Edition (and this special edition PS4 that includes the Legendary Edition) arrive on September 15. Since the deal kicks in three days before the game arrives, you can also pick up Taken King's GameStop-exclusive preorder bonuses. These include the SUROS Arsenal Pack (containing a special emblem and three guns), as well as early access to the Vanguard Weapons Pack.
