George Clooney Reveals Why He Turned Down $35 Million For One Day's Work-April 2024
Apr 19, 2025 11:17 AM

Movie star George Clooney has revealed that he was offered $35 million for a single day's work to make an airline commercial, but he turned it down to concerns about the country in question.

"I was offered $35 million for one day's work for an airline commercial, but I talked to [his partner Amal Clooney] about it and we decided it's not worth it," he told The Guardian. "It was [associated with] a country that, although it's an ally, is questionable at times, and so I thought: 'Well, if it takes a minute's sleep away from me, it's not worth it.'"

Amal Clooney is a human rights lawyer. George Clooney didn't share any further specifics, so we can only speculate as to which airline he's referring to. In any case, Clooney hasn't shied away from all sponsorship gigs, as his deal with Nespresso is reportedly worth $40 million. His tequila company, Casamigos, sold for $1 billion.

Clooney's latest movie is The Tender Bar, which he directed. The film stars Ben Affleck and Tye Sheridan, and it releases in theaters on December 17 before coming to Prime in January. Clooney has won Oscars for Syriana and Argo.
