Genetic Anomalies Acquired By THQ-April 2024
Apr 20, 2025 7:25 PM

THQ announced on Monday that it has acquired the Cambridge, Mass.,-based developer of Chron X, Genetic Anomalies, for US$8 million in stock. As part of the acquisition, THQ gains all rights to Genetic Anomolies online-only collectable card game, Chron X; a sports game in development; and a WWF game, also in development.

Considering that THQ already has rights to the WWF's license with games like WWF Wrestlemania for the Nintendo 64, the acquisition of Genetic Anomalies will help THQ solidify its online gaming focus.

"The acquisition of Genetic Anomalies signals THQ's solid commitment to the Internet marketplace," stated Brian J. Farrell, president and chief executive officer of THQ. "With this first step in our aggressive online gameplan, we intend to be a major player in the Internet arena. Genetic Anomalies equips us with proven content, as well as the experienced development and design talent that is crucial to success in this rapidly evolving market. We expect to make more announcements in the near future with respect to leveraging content controlled by THQ in game environments played over the Internet."
