Apr 23, 2025 4:37 AM

A partial lineup of keynotes for the 2004 Game Developers Conference has been announced, and a troika of industry heavy hitters it is.

The programming keynote will be given by John Carmack, cofounder of id Software and the studio's "technological patriarch." David Perry, president of Enter the Matrix maker Shiny Entertainment, will speak about production of that title, while Electronic Arts' Neil Young will talk about game design in general and what went into designing the upcoming The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King in particular.

GDC will be held at the San Jose Convention Center from March 22 to 26, 2004, and will feature dozens of other speakers, including Red Storm's Richard Dansky, former LucasArts' design guru Hal Barwood, and Turtle Rock chief Michael Booth.

As usual, GDC will also feature events, tutorials, and symposiums on subjects ranging from programming to business and legal affairs.
