Gaming voter group builds Wall of Protest-April 2024
Apr 20, 2025 12:40 PM

The Entertainment Software Association's Video Game Voters Network has unveiled its latest grassroots effort to get gamers involved in the political realm. The organization's Wall of Protest is intended to not only speak out against game regulation, but also raise awareness of the issue.

The group is asking concerned gamers to share photos of themselves making a statement against game regulation and posting it on the official site. There are more than 100 photos already on the wall, most expressing about as in-depth an argument against gaming regulation as one could be expected to fit in large font on a note card.

While many of the submissions play against gamer stereotypes in showing men and women of all ages speaking out against government intervention, some submissions are decidedly less than progressive in that regard. "Leave my games alone. I'm warning you," threatens one stern-faced poster.

There are also a number of light-hearted submissions, including pictures of a dog, a chinchilla, Capcom's Lego-like character Kobun, and an angry Mario, saying, "Hey you! Get offa my games!" One gamer submitted a picture of a man dressed up in a green superhero costume with a 20-sided die logo on his chest and the caption, "Do I LOOK like a SOCIOPATH?"

According to an ESA representative, VGVN members are also increasing awareness with "tens of thousands of letters and phone calls to elected officials." For more on the group, visit its official Web site.
