The original Galaga was considered one of the best shooters of the early '80s, and Hasbro, in its infinite wisdom, has seen fit to give it the requisite update. Replacing the 2D vertical perspective of the original are first-person sequences ala StarFox, and side scrolling levels similar to R-Type. However, Galaga: Destination EARTH strays too far from its source material, so much so that it would be difficult to make a connection between the two if their names weren't the same. That's unfortunate, because there doesn't appear to be anything else compelling about Galaga: Destination EARTH other than its historical background.
