During its 2010 Electronic Entertainment Expo press conference, Ubisoft showed off a head-scratching teaser trailer for a downloadable game it called Project Dust. For this week's Gamescom convention, the publisher shed a little more light on the game, officially renaming it From Dust and slapping on a March release window.
Nature is both a threat and a tool in From Dust. From Dust casts players as a supernatural force looking out for indigenous tribes in a seeming paradise beset by natural disasters. By transporting land, water, vegetation, and lava around tropical environs, players can open up new pathways for villagers and protect them from earthquakes and other calamities. The various threats in the game can also be turned to the players' advantage; for example, a well-placed tsunami could extinguish wildfires rather than sweep away villages.
From Dust is set for release on Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, and through PC downloadable storefronts like Steam. For more on From Dust, check out GameSpot's first impressions.
