Earlier this week, UK-based Sports Interactive made the inevitable announcement that it's working on Football Manager 2006 for the PC & Mac, a game that will almost certainly be released as Worldwide Soccer Manager 2006 ion this side of the pond if the North American release of last year's game is considered a success. That announcement arrived in my inbox alongside a much more surprising one, though, which confirmed that a PSP version of the game is also in development. Details on both of the games were pretty scarce, so we got in touch with SI's Miles Jacobson to get some more info...
Unsurprisingly, the PSP version of Football Manager 2006 is going to be quite different to its PC/Mac counterpart. And equally unsurprisingly, I can't wait to lead Bolton Wanderers to European glory from the comfort (OK, discomfort) of my seat on the bus to and from work every day.
No multiplayer functionality has been confirmed for the PSP game at the time of writing, but Miles' response to my question about it in today's Q&A suggests that it hasn't been ruled out either. With or without multiplayer support, this is a PSP game that I'm extremely excited about. Truth is, that even if this game was based on SI's Championship Manager 2 (1995) rather than the company's most recent and upcoming offerings, the prospect of playing it on a handheld would still get me drooling. We (and especially I) can't wait to bring you more information on this one!
