Fallujah developer initiates Breach
Fallujah developer initiates Breach-April 2024
Apr 22, 2025 10:51 AM

While its last game has yet to see the light of day, Atomic Games is pressing on to its next project. The developer today announced that it has begun work on Breach.

Befitting the developer's name, publishers treated Six Days in Fallujah as if it were radioactive. Atomic was stingy with details, but it did say Breach will be a multiplayer first-person shooter focusing on CIA Special Activities Division officers. The game is being created for consoles and PCs, but no publisher has been attached to the project yet.

The issue of a publishing partner is a key concern, given the fate of Atomic's last title, the controversial Six Days in Fallujah. In April of 2009, Konami announced the game based on the actual 2004 battle, promising a respectful and historically accurate treatment of the Iraq War. However, the publisher dropped the project less than a month later, yielding to outcry from a variety of parties, including families of those who lost loved ones in the war.

Atomic has a history with military simulations, having previously produced training tools for the Marines. On the interactive entertainment front, the studio has a lengthy history with wargames including the Close Combat and V for Victory series of PC titles.
