On February 18, Activision closed Bizarre Creations, the team that brought gamers Geometry Wars, The Club, Blur, and most recently James Bond 007: Blood Stone. On February 25, several ex-Bizarre staffers announced the formation of "phoenix group" Lucid, and now, another studio is rising from the Bizarre ashes. The Muppets apparently don't have a monopoly on Pigs in Space.
Three Bizarre alums have announced Hogrocket, an independent development shop based in northwest England.
The team is composed of Stephen Cakebreed, the creator of Geometry Wars; Ben Ward, the former Bizarre Creations community manager; and Pete Collier, who served as senior level designer on Project Gotham Racing 3, The Club, and James Bond 007: Blood Stone. The three main staffers will be supported in development by a number of freelancers.
Hogrocket says it will develop games for a number of platforms, but its first entry--currently in development--will be a title for Apple's line of devices, specifically the iPhone and iPad. The developer promises further details on the new game soon. For more information on the new studio, check out Hogrocket's website and Twitter account.
