　　The open beta for Left 4 Dead developer Turtle Rock's upcoming monster-hunting game Evolve is now available on Xbox One to anyone with a Gold account. There is no code required to play. All you need to do is download the 20 GB game from the Xbox Store and you're good to go.

　　Servers were switched on today at 9 AM PDT / 12 Noon EDT, so the game should be playable right now. The beta is scheduled to run through January 19. Servers will be officially switched off on that day at 8 PM PDT / 11 PM EDT.

　　The Evolve open beta on Xbox One features two playable Monsters (Goliath and Kraken), eight Hunters, and 12 maps. Starting January 17, players will be able to try out the Evacuation mode.

　　All Hunter and Monster characters unlocked through the Evolve beta will carry forward to the full game when it launches on February 10.

　　Turtle Rock is also letting PlayStation 4 and PC owners play the game starting this week, though if you want to play on those platforms, you'll need to meet certain requirements.

　　In other Evolve news, earlier this week, Turtle Rock and 2K Games announced the game's extensive DLC plans. Some criticized the game's approach to add-on content, which led to Turtle Rock's co-founder speaking out to defend his game from the criticisms.
