E.T. The Extra Terrestrial, one of the most recognizable movie characters of all time, will soon be featured in his own line of video game products, as a result of a licensing deal between NewKidCo, Universal Studios Consumer Products Group and Amblin Entertainment. As part of this multiyear agreement, NewKidCo has obtained the rights to publish multiple games for the PC, the Sony PlayStation, the PlayStation 2, the Sega Dreamcast, the Nintendo Dolphin, the Game Boy Color, the Game Boy Advance, and Microsoft's upcoming X-Box console system.

　　Although NewKidCo has yet to begin development for any specific platform, the company has plans to release the first games based on the E.T. franchise in early 2001. No further details on the actual game's were announced, but according to a company representative, these latest titles will closely follow NewKidCo's lineage of producing interactive and edutainment software geared toward children ages 12 and under.

　　Richard Rabins, CEO of NewKidCo International Inc., said of the deal, "Our broad rights in this relationship have the potential to lead to many exciting advances in the world of interactive entertainment by developing high-end and futuristic applications for this globally renowned family property."
