Epic's Infinity Blade striking iOS this holiday
Epic's Infinity Blade striking iOS this holiday-April 2024
Apr 19, 2025 7:49 PM

Apple's prioritization of mobile gaming was typified in September, when Epic Games announced at one of the Cupertino-based company's high-profile events that it would be bringing Unreal Engine 3 to iOS devices. As part of that announcement, Epic revealed its first project for the iOS, which includes the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, an action role-playing game operating under the working title "Project Sword" and developed by Chair Entertainment.

This week, Epic Games officially announced the iOS action RPG from its subsidiary studio, renaming the game Infinity Blade and attaching a holiday release window to it. Epic expects to announce pricing information and an exact release date closer to the game's launch.

Unreal Engine 3 will soon make its way to the iPhone. Infinity Blade features a medieval setting, with the focus placed on touch screen-based sword-battle gameplay. Epic noted that gamers will be able to explore a 3D castle, engaging in sword fights with various villains and bosses. As players progress through the castle, they will level up their characters, build their stats, and find new items in the lead-up to a showdown with Infinity Blade's primary protagonist, the God-King.

Epic plans to release additional free content for Infinity Blade post-release, including a multiplayer component. Further, the studio plans to provide updates on the iOS title through its official Facebook page.
