Elixir Studios has announced that Tuomas Pirinen - an established designer from the Warhammer tabletop publisher Games Workshop - has gone to the studio to develop an unnamed game project. At Games Workshop, Pirinen authored Mordheim and had a sizeable role in developing Warhammer 40,000 3rd edition and Warhammer Fantasy Battle 6th edition. The Warhammer universe has spawned a number of computer game adaptations, including an RTS Pirinen consulted on - Warhammer: Dark Omen.
Apart from this new second game, Elixir is developing Republic: The Revolution, a 3D strategy game in which players attempt to take political control of a fictional former Russian republic. Republic was one of the most ambitious new strategy games we saw at this year's E3. The game's lead designer, Demis Hassabis, formerly worked with Peter Molyneux at Bullfrog and Lionhead.
Regarding the announcement, Hassabis said, "We've been developing the second game for some time, and I would say that it's at least as ambitious as Republic: The Revolution. Tuomas has the experience and the vision to make it a standout game."
There is little information on the new project, and neither a name nor a ship date has been released as of yet. Watch for more details on Elixir's upcoming games on GameSpot in the coming months.
