EA to distribute Green Day: Rock Band
EA to distribute Green Day: Rock Band-April 2024
Apr 24, 2025 12:44 PM

EA caused a good bit of confusion on Monday when it laid out its release schedule for the remainder of its current fiscal year. By way of omission, the publisher seemed to confirm that it would not be releasing a new NCAA Basketball game this year or a PC edition of Dead Space 2. EA also appeared to have dropped MTV Games and Harmonix's Rock Band franchise from its distribution list, leaving off the previously announced Green Day edition of the rhythm series.

EA will, in fact, be along for the ride on the Dookie Tour. Earlier today, EA clarified its position (kind of) on Dead Space 2 for the PC, saying that it has yet to determine whether the edition will be released. Now, MTV Games has provided word on Rock Band: Green Day, confirming that EA will indeed serve as distributor for the title through its EA Partners label.

"The previously announced Green Day: Rock Band will be published by MTV Games and distributed by EA," an MTV Games representative told GameSpot. "Stay tuned for news of MTV Games' other titles soon." MTV did not comment on the Green Day game's release window, though it had previously been announced to arrive in 2010.

Green Day: Rock Band is in development for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii. In a vein similar to last year's The Beatles: Rock Band, the game will be devoted to Green Day's music, featuring some of the band's favorite venues, as well as other onstage imagery. The game's song list will be fully exportable, allowing its songs to be played in Rock Band and Rock Band 2.
