Dreamcast price drop official-April 2024
Apr 20, 2025 3:53 AM

Sega of America has officially confirmed a price drop for its Dreamcast console from its current price point of $99.95 to a new suggested retail price of $79.95. The price change will be effective on Sunday, August 12 at retailers nationwide. According to Sega, the price drop is designed to ensure that it exhausts the remaining inventory of Dreamcast consoles by year's end.

"By taking these steps, we are confident that we will meet our sell-through goal and we are excited to be able to offer consumers an excellent choice in consoles this holiday season," said Peter Moore, president and COO of Sega of America. "Besides its affordable price point and incredible library of content, Dreamcast continues to be the only console offering out-of-the-box online gameplay right now."

In addition to the price drop for the console itself, Sega announced that the price of the controller will be reduced to $14.95 and VMU units to $9.95. The price of the Sonic Hardware Bundle will be $99.95 and Sega will introduce a new sports bundle, which includes a black Dreamcast, NFL 2K1, NBA 2K1, and World Series Baseball 2K1 for the same $99.95 price.
