In Dead Island 2, it doesn't take long to explore the world before you find oyurself seriously in need of fuses. These handy electronic items act like keys of a sort, and will unlock big caches of weapons if you can find them and insert them where they go. Thankfully, finding fuses has a reliable and rather simple method--but only after you figure it out the first time. Like fast travel, the game doesn't exactly explain fuses so clearly early on. 　　Fuses cost $1,500 no matter from whom you buy them, and you can only ever carry up to three. As far as we know, there's no way to raise your carrying capacity of fuses (or medkits, for that matter). Unlike many items, you can't craft fuses, either, so you'll want to stock up on them whenever you can afford them. Having a full loadout of three fuses as often as possible will help you open the many fuse doors around LA. While early on, $1,500 is a lot of money, by the midpoint of the story this is merely pocket change.

　　Inside the locked rooms opened with fuses, you'll find ample crafting supplies, cash, and--best of all--a chest containing one weapon. Though most weapon drops in the game are randomized, the weapons in these particular chests, called "Zomproof Slayer Hoards" (not to be confused with hordes of slaying zombies) are usually of a greater value and quality than you'll find just lying about the world.

　　The centerpiece of any locked room requiring a fuse to open is the Zomproof Slayer Hoard containing one great weapon.Take note, however, that these rooms are often booby-trapped, though it's quite obvious when they are, as you'll see tripwires running across the room in different directions. You can either destroy these tripwires from a safe distance or lure zombies near them, then dropkick them into the traps to clear the room for you.

　　What's left when the chaos clears is a lovely room full of loot, and so long as you keep well-stocked on fuses, there are plenty more such rooms to unlock throughout the game.
